Sexual Predator Groomed Teen Boy on Roblox Using Robux, Lawsuit Alleges

A state-appointed guardian filed a complaint in federal court alleging that Roblox, a gaming platform marketed to children with tens of millions of daily users, and Discord failed to deploy sufficient protective measures to prevent child sexual exploitation. According to the lawsuit, an adult woman was able to pose as a minor and coerce the plaintiff's 13-year-old son into performing sexually explicit acts on camera, exploiting gaps in the platforms' safety infrastructure.

The complaint names both Roblox Corporation and Discord Inc. as defendants and claims the companies prioritized profits over child safety despite knowledge of these deficiencies. The guardian alleges the defendants' inadequate safeguards enabled not only the grooming and exploitation that occurred in this case, but have created widespread vulnerability for minors on both platforms, facilitating grooming, exploitation, and in other instances kidnapping, sexual assault, and trafficking.
