Rachel Lerner and her husband Shaya Lerner filed a product liability lawsuit in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on August 12, 2026, against MT Global Enterprises LLC (doing business as Stonhome) and Amazon.com Inc. over injuries from a Stonhome tabletop fire pit.

According to the complaint, the portable fire pit was defectively designed such that pooled isopropyl alcohol ignited suddenly during normal use, causing flames to eject from the device and engulf the user. The plaintiff suffered severe and permanent burns to her head, face, chest, ears, and hands.

The lawsuit names both the manufacturer and Amazon as defendants, holding Amazon liable as the seller and distributor of the hazardous product. The plaintiffs cite a 2024 U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission decision that determined Amazon may bear responsibility for recalling certain hazardous products it receives, stores, and delivers. The case seeks damages for the plaintiff's burn injuries and related harms.
