Gree Dehumidifier Lawsuit Alleges Defective Appliance Caused House Fire

State Farm Fire and Casualty Company filed a lawsuit on behalf of Mark and Michelle Neal against Gree USA Inc. in Ohio state court on June 26, which was subsequently removed to U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio on August 5. State Farm contends that the dehumidifier contained defective materials identical to those that prompted Gree to recall more than 2.2 million units over the past decade. The most significant recall occurred in 2023 when over 1.5 million units sold under multiple brand names—including GE, Kenmore, Soleus Air, and Norpole—were withdrawn from the market due to the hazard.
