Connecticut's Attorney General, on behalf of multiple state attorneys general, has announced settlement with Glenmark Pharmaceuticals in ongoing litigation against generic drug manufacturers accused of unlawfully fixing prices on generic prescription drugs sold in the United States. The settling defendant has agreed to contribute approximately $29.6 million to a settlement fund, of which $20.7 million will be distributed to claimants and $8.9 million reserved for administration and reimbursement of state litigation costs.

The lawsuits allege that defendants conspired to inflate prices on generic prescription drugs purchased by consumers and states between May 1, 2009 and December 31, 2019. Litigation continues against multiple non-settling defendants including Actavis, Amneal, Ascend, Aurobindo, Teva, Pfizer, Sandoz, and others. Eligible purchasers include individual consumers and entities that bought the named generic drugs during the class period in participating states and territories.

The state attorneys general have established a settlement fund that will accumulate payments from current and future settlements with other defendants. No distribution to claimants will occur until the court approves a plan of allocation. Consumers wishing to receive payments will be required to submit claim forms through a process scheduled to open at a future date, with updates available via the settlement website.
