Two women, identified as Jane MH Doe-1 and Jane WP Doe-2, sued Apple Inc. in federal court in Michigan after they allegedly were tracked using Apple AirTags by former romantic partners who sought to locate them despite their efforts to maintain distance and avoid contact.

Apple introduced AirTags in April 2021 as Bluetooth-enabled tracking devices designed to help users locate personal belongings. The devices communicate via Bluetooth signals and Apple's "Find My" network, allowing nearby Apple devices to detect an AirTag and relay its location anonymously through Apple's infrastructure. However, the same technology that enables legitimate item tracking has allegedly been exploited for stalking, domestic violence, and assault.

The complaint, filed August 10, 2026, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, asserts that Apple knew of the potential for AirTag misuse before launch but failed to implement adequate safeguards to prevent unauthorized tracking. The plaintiffs claim the company's inadequate protective measures allowed former romantic partners to secretly monitor their movements and repeatedly locate them. An MDL has been sought to consolidate multiple AirTag-related stalking claims.
